As noted in our recent blog Panama, Congo, Zimbabwe, London, New York: the vultures come home to roost, RAID had been seeking permission to appeal an earlier decision that HM Treasury was entitled to withhold information on its implementation of sanctions against Zimbabwe. The Upper Tribunal (Administrative Appeals Chamber) has now granted RAID permission to appeal. The hearing (date to be determined) will consider whether or not the lower court’s decision involved the making of an error on a point of law. The issues to be discussed will include ‘whether any question should be referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union.’
